OB-Xscape Rooms Unveils New 2018 Escape Rooms

Posted By on May 4, 2018

The Outer Banks got its first ever escape room experience when OB-Xscape Rooms opened its doors to the public last year, and now the popular attraction has announced the addition of new rooms debuting in 2018.

For those who are unfamiliar, an escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room as clues to solve a series of puzzles and escape within a set time limit, or having completed a mission.

The games are physical versions of “escape the room” video games, and they are set in a variety of fictional locations, such as prison cells, dungeons, and space stations. Escape rooms have become hugely popular throughout the country in the last decade, often used as team building exercises or fun for the whole family.

Located in the Southern Shores Crossing shopping center in the town of Southern Shores, OB-Xscape Rooms offers a variety of exciting and challenging experiences to choose from.

A new room debuting in 2018 is Blind Tiger Speakeasy, in which you and your team play as U.S. Federal Treasury Agents investigating a hidden casino club run by mobsters during the Prohibition era in the 1920s, with the mission of finding the hidden evidence that will lock these mobsters up in 60 minutes or less.

The official synopsis for Blind Tiger Speakeasy: It’s 1920, the year the U.S. officially became a “dry” country outlawing the sale of all liquor. The mafia has turned this into an opportunity to make a killing. The city has been taken over by the powerful crime boss, Maximilian Malone, who has built a network of speakeasies on almost every street corner. You are a group of Treasury Agents. As the most trusted officers in the bureau, you have been given the assignment to go undercover as bar employees. You’ll have one hour inside the most notorious speakeasy in town, The Blind Tiger. You must find the crime lord’s ledger book – the biggest piece of evidence necessary to build a case to take down Malone and his entire organization.

Cell Block 4 Death Row is also new this year, in which you can don an orange inmate jumpsuit as you attempt your prison escape.

The official synopsis for Cell Block 4 Death Row: You have been locked up  and on death row for a crime you were wrongfully convicted of 22 years ago. The guards are off the Cell Block attending to an unexpected emergency which caused the lights to go out. You and the other Cell Block 4 inmates are left alone on a honor system that you all will continue to follow protocol. You are set to be executed in a week, so what do you have to lose? You have 60 minutes until the lights are restored back on to escape or you will die trying.

Also new for 2018, OB-Xscape Rooms is premiering their first mobile escape room, titled Heroes Checkmate, which can be brought on location to your special event upon request.

Additional escape rooms include the pirate-themed Mutiny on the Lark, the dinosaur-themed Raptor Revenge, the tech-themed Meltdown, and the Cold Case Murder of Dawn Renee, in which participants are tasked with finding clues to discover the truth about a decades old unsolved mystery.

You can watch us attempt to solve the murder of 1980s teen beauty queen Dawn Renee on Episode 74 of the OBX Entertainment original series OBXE TV in the video below, and then check out the OB-Xscape Rooms Local Buzz Page here.
