Newborn Corolla Colt Named Sebastian in Memory of Local Boy Lost in Fire

A Corolla wild colt that was born last Monday, May 18, during Tropical Storm Aruthur has been named Sebastian, in memory of a young boy who, along with his mother, died in a tragic house fire in Kill Devil Hills earlier this month.

Sebastian the colt and his mom are in great shape, as seen in the photo (by Nena Foster Pritchard) below, walking down the beach with his older brother.

In a statement posted to Facebook on Wednesday, May 26, the Corolla Wild Horse Fund announced, “We decided to name the colt Sebastian, in honor and memory of a special young man who tragically lost his life in a house fire earlier this month. Sebi and his mom Ravann were well-loved members of our community and Sebi was a part of the Mustang Outreach Program. We hope this small gesture brings a bit of joy and comfort to their friends and family. Sebi’s legacy will remain a part of this beach for many, many generations to come.”
