22nd Dare County Resident Tests Positive for Covid-19

Dare County Health and Human Services has received a new positive Covid-19 test result, an individual identified as a local Dare resident.

It is unclear as of this writing how the person came into contact with the virus, which indicates the potential that the virus was acquired by community spread, according to Dare County Health and Human Services Director Dr. Sheila Davies.

This individual is currently recovering in home isolation.

All identified direct contacts of this individual were notified earlier today (May 14).

This brings the total number of positive Covid-19 tests in Dare County to 22. Of those, 17 have recovered or are asymptomatically cleared, four remain active, and one person has died. Of the four active cases, one is hospitalized and the other three are recovering in home isolation.
