‘Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks’ Season 5 Premiere Clips Revealed
The locally filmed National Geographic Channel (NatGeo) reality competition series Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks is about to launch its fifth season, and today we have your first official look at two clips from the first episode of Season 5.
In the Season Premiere episode, entitled “Battle Lines”, it’s opening day of the bluefin tuna season in the Outer Banks, and a reduced quota means there’s more pressure than ever to land a fish. Captain Tyler McLaughlin of the PinWheel has traveled all the way from Gloucester, Massachusetts, to fish in these waters, but soon finds there is no Southern hospitality in tuna fishing. The Southern captains are determined to watch out for each other, putting the Northern boats at a disadvantage.
In the first 90-second clip from the episode, the Little Shell has some difficulty while trying to catch a fish on the first day of the season. In the second clip, Captain Dave Marcian’s Angelica Fisheries of Gloucester shows off their new boat, the Falcon.
Filmed on the Outer Banks, North Carolina, the breakout TV show spin off of the original Wicked Tuna that follows the exciting work of hardcore tuna fishermen on the Outer Banks, production of the new season began in January, once again shot mostly aboard the boats of the local and visiting captains from Gloucester until the region’s bluefin quota is met.
Locally based charter boat Fishin’ Frenzy, led by Captain Greg Mayer, has won the competition each of the first three seasons of the show, while Reels of Fortune, led by Captain Charlie Griffin, was the most recent winner in Season 4. The other local boats competing this season are Little Shell led by Captain Nick Gowitzka and Doghouse led by Captain Britton “Shack” Shackelford.
Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks Season 5 premieres on Sunday, July 1 at 9pm on NatGeo.
