Posted By on October 12, 2017

The 4th Annual Outer Banks Halloween Parade returns to Kelly’s in Nags Head on Sunday, October 29, 2017, starting with the pre-parade kickoff party at 2pm, with the walking parade itself beginning at 3pm, to be immediately followed by the Awards Ceremony for the best costumes.

The largest Halloween celebration on the Outer Banks, this free, family friendly event includes trick-or-treating, special surprise guests, live entertainment, and of course Dare County’s ultimate costume contest.

The walking parade around the Kelly’s property will begin at 3pm. Those who do not wish to walk in the parade can watch and cheer it on in the spectators area located in the Kelly’s front lawn. Everyone attending the event is encouraged to dress in costume in the spirit of the season.

All costume contest entries must be registered to participate in the parade and to be eligible for prizes.

Online early registration available! Click here to REGISTER FOR THE PARADE NOW!

Everyone who registers to walk in the Parade will be entered into the Costume Contest, with the winners to be announced during an Awards Ceremony immediately following the Parade. You must be present and remain in costume until the winners are announced in order to claim any prizes.

Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes among the parade entries in various categories and age groups, including Best Male and Female age 5 and under; Best Male and Female age 6-12; Best Male and Female age 13-adult; Best Couple; and Best Family/Group Costumes.

The annual Halloween Parade is the culminating event of HalloWeek on the Outer Banks, following the 2nd Halloween International Film Festival, featuring independent films of all genres from around the world, including many filmed in North Carolina and even here locally, as well as special guest filmmakers in attendance for Q&A panels and meet-and-greets with fans. (For more information on the film festival, including the full lineup of the screening schedule, and to purchase tickets, please click here.)

Admission to this rain or shine event is free for anyone wearing a Halloween costume.

The mission of the Parade of Costumes is to provide a safe and positive celebration of Halloween and its traditions, for Outer Banks locals and visitors alike, and Halloween lovers worldwide, with live entertainment and loads of fun for adults and kids of all ages.
