NPS To Honor Wright Brothers On Orville’s Birthday, National Aviation Day

Posted By on August 4, 2016

The National Park Service is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, and as part of that year-long ongoing celebration they have chosen what would be Orville Wright’s 145th birthday, August 19, recognized around the country as National Aviation Day, as the day they will highlight the Wright brothers as a part of their own centennial celebration.

The First Flight Society will be joined by several other friends-of-flight as participants in the society’s annual program of events happening on August 19 at Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills.

There will be no admission fee to the park on that day.

You can see a tentative schedule of events below, and be sure to watch OBXentertainment.com for additional information on National Aviation Day events on the Outer Banks.
