NYU Student Movie ‘The Transgressor’ To Film On Outer Banks [Exclusive]

The future is here for New York University senior Victoria Duncan, about to shoot her student short film The Transgressor on the Outer Banks, North Carolina.

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Duncan grew up vacationing on the Outer Banks. Today she attends New York University, a film student at NYU’s esteemed Tisch School of the Arts, following in the footsteps of legendary alumni like Martin Scorsese (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas) and Oliver Stone (Platoon, JFK, The Doors), and returning to her roots on the Outer Banks to create her senior thesis film.

Victoria recently talked to OBX Entertainment about how excited she is to end her last year of film education by returning to a place that has given her endless amounts of inspiration over the years.

The Transgressor takes place in a dystopian society, set somewhere in the not-too-distant future, where music has become synonymous for chaos and is outlawed. The Rebels, those who believe that music enforces joy and love, are forced to hide who they are.

Set inside this dangerous futuristic world, the film tells  the story of Amanda, a child spy. Under the strict leadership of her Commander, her job is to investigate the Rebels and to turn them over to the police, but everything changes when she actually hears music for the first time. Amanda will be forced to choose between security in a cold-hearted world or the warmth, closure, and liberation she truly desires.

Victoria believes that the surrealistic landscape of the Outer Banks will provide a unique and breathtaking backdrop for the world she is creating.

'The Transgressor', written and directed by Victoria Duncan, will be filmed on the Outer Banks, North Carolina.

Duncan will be shooting mainly in Avon and it surrounding areas on Hatteras Island, as well as scenes at Jockey’s Ridge in Nags Head and Elizabethan Gardens on Roanoke Island, with production scheduled from April 22 through April 26

The production launched a fundraising campaign via Kickstarter on March 5 in order to raise the necessary funds for transportation from New York to the Outer Banks, as well as food, locations, equipment, rentals, and other various expenses. Their goal is to raise $13,000 for the film.

Those who donate funds to the Kickstarter campaign can get some really cool perks in exchange, including credit as an “Executive Producer”, an invitation to the film’s premiere screening, or signed promotional artwork, among other options starting with donations of just $5 or more.
