Easter Musical Announced In Kill Devil Hills
The Music Ministry of the Outer Banks Presbyterian Church will present “Praise His Holy Name”, a musical on the life of Christ on Saturday, March 19 at 7pm and Sunday, March 20 and at 4pm.
This musical presentation consists of song selections and narrations pulled from various sources by the Church Music Director, Jason Evans. The performance will be given by the Sanctuary Choir of the church along with numerous musical guests all combining to build a 58-voice choir, a 13-piece orchestra and narrators to tell the wonderful story of Jesus’ love for us by giving His life on a cross over two thousand years ago.
The first portion of the concert will focus on praising the Lord’s Holy Name through various anthems leading us in worship. The second portion will tell the story of the final week of Christ’s life from the Triumphal Entry through the Last Supper, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of our Savior.
The choir, under the direction of Jason Evans and Nonie Booth, has been working on the musical for weeks.
Guest conductor, Ken Clifton, will join forces again this year to direct the choir and orchestra and who knows, just may tinkle the ivories in true “Ken” fashion for us. Clifton’s impressive career includes numerous engagements all around the country from Broadway to many theatrical productions as well as his time on the Outer Banks as musical director for “The Lost Colony” in Manteo for several summers.
Soloists include; Pam Tanner, Maurice Trotman, Elaine Reed, and Rod Hamilton.
The orchestra will be comprised of: Steve Blackstock, Organist; Jason Evans, Pianist; George Graham, Drummer; John Blackstock, Bass Guitarist; Bob Grifa, Timpani/Percussion; Leslie Erickson, Shannah Bonne, and Billy Tanner, violinists; Katherine Wease, Violist; Deborah Ramos and Tim Briggs, Cellists; Suzanne Blackstock and Katie Blackstock Blanchard, Flautists.
All are invited to attend this moving and powerful presentation. Admission is free, and a freewill love offering will be taken. Nursery will be provided.
