Under the direction of Ira David Wood, III the company will once again celebrate “Dare Nights” when all locals are invited to attend the show for free by making a donation of non-perishable food items to local food pantries.  The “Dare Night” performances of The Lost Colony are sponsored by E.R. Midgett Insurance. E.R. Midgett is proud to be a part of this long standing community event.

“Dare Nights” will be observed on Friday, June 6, Friday, June 13 and Friday, June 20.  The show will start at 8:00 PM and theatre guests are encouraged to arrive early in order to get good seats.  Tickets will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.  In addition to the food or dry goods donations, residents are required to show proof of Dare County residency, such as a driver’s license, voter registration card or utility bill.  Pre-performance donation collection begins at 5:30 PM.  There are no rain checks with these free tickets.

The June 6th performance will support the Hatteras Island Food Pantry & Lifeboat Community Church Food Pantry of Salvo, the June 13th performance will support the Beach Food Pantry and the June 20th performance will benefit the Roanoke Island Food Pantry of Manteo.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the locals to give back to the locals.  Recommended items for the food drive include canned vegetables, fruits, meats, soups and beans; tomato and pasta products; cereals; peanut butter and jelly; paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels and pancake mix and syrup.  This is an excellent opportunity to see the show for free and to provide emergency assistance to families in need. The “Dare Night” performances of The Lost Colony are sponsored by E.R. Midgett Insurance.

The Lost Colony will officially open on May 30 and run through August 22 at the Waterside Theatre located on the grounds of the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site.  The show runs nightly except Sunday.
