Melissa McCarthy Comedy ‘Tammy’ Release Date Announced [NC Film]
Braidsmaids breakout star Melissa McCarthy’s new comedy Tammy is currently shooting in and around Wilmington, North Carolina, and we now have an official release date for the raucous road trip comedy, written and directed by McCarthy and her husband Ben Falcone.
Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that Tammy will be released in theaters on July 2, 2014, facing off against Disney’s Sleeping Beauty reimagining Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie as the evil witch. McCarthy and company will face bigger competition in the comedy Sex Tape, starring Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel, which is also scheduled to open on the same day.
Don’t be surprised if this release date gets shifted at some point.
The all-star cast also includes Susan Sarandon (Thelma and Louise), Dan Akroyd (Ghostbusters), Kathy Bates (Misery), Alison Janney (The West Wing), and Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense).
In the film, after losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, a woman (McCarthy) hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother (Sarandon).
Tammy opens in theaters on July 2, 2014.
