Outer Banks Shootout Kicks Off OBX Surf Season

The local surf competition season kicks off with the 4th Annual Outer Banks Shootout Pro Am Surfing Contest in Nags Head this month.

Presented by Catch Surf and Duck Village Outfitters, the event awards a total of more than $8,000 in cash and prizes to winners in various categories.

Professional divisions include Pro Surf, Pro Bodyboard, and Pro Dropknee, while amateurs will compete in separate divisions including Grommets (ages 13 and under), Open Surf, and Open Bodyboard.

First Place in the Pro Surf division wins $2,000 plus additional prizes from Jamis Boss, Arnette, and Lost.
