‘Walking Dead’ Star And OBX Fan Addy Miller Returns To VA Beach [Interview]
Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Pinhead, The Crypt Keeper, and The Devil’s Rejects are all coming to Virginia Beach this Mothers Day weekend, along with several of the stars of AMC’s hit zombie series The Walking Dead, including North Carolina actress and frequent Outer Banks visitor Addy Miller, for the third Blood at the Beach Horror Convention.
Making her third appearance in Virginia Beach this weekend after attending both previous Blood at the Beach (BATB) conventions, Addy played the first zombie featured in the opening scene of the first episode of The Walking Dead, earning instant horror icon status as the “Little Girl Zombie” who somehow remembers to pick up her teddy bear even after becoming undead.
OBXentertainment.com caught up with the busy 13-year-old actress (The Three Stooges, The Secret Life of Bees) to find out what sets the Blood at the Beach event apart from the many other conventions that she has attended.
” One of the reasons I love BATB so much,” Addy told us, “is its location. After going to the Outer Banks every year since I was born, coming here to Virginia Beach for Blood at the Beach is like coming home. It just feels right, and I love it here.”
At conventions like Blood at the Beach, it’s all about fans getting to connect with their favorite idols, and Miller says that she enjoys the opportunity to actually get to know her supporters, as those in Virginia Beach have earned a special place in her heart.
“Another reason I love going to BATB,” she said, “is the crowd. Now that this is my third time, I’ve gotten to know so many of them. We actually talk on my page on Facebook or Twitter, so I feel like I am going to see my friends again.”
On her Facebook page, Addy has called Blood at the Beach her “home convention”. She says that she looks forward to and has as much fun at the convention as many of the fans do.
“BATB is just a great show,” she said. “My family and I have gotten to know the convention runner, Al (Keisel), real well, and he just knows what he is doing, and everyone has a great time.”

A native of the Triangle area of North Carolina, Addy told us last year that she looks forward to visiting the Outer Banks with her family every fall, adding, “I think I have eaten at every restaurant and shopped at every shop from Corolla to Ocracoke. Kitty Hawk Kites and Howard’s Pub are my favorites.”
Addy will join other cast members from The Walking Dead in Virginia Beach, including Michael Rooker, an iconic actor who just wrapped up an awesome character arc on the most recent season of the show. He was also at the inaugural Blood at the Beach convention in April of 2012 and will undoubtedly be one of the most popular celebrities in attendance this weekend.
Rooker has starred in over 100 feature films, including Tombstone, The Dark Half, JFK, The Bone Collector, The 6th Day, Mallrats, and the 1990 NASCAR epic Days of Thunder, which was filmed partly in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Most recently it was announced last month that Rooker will reunite with his Slither director James Gunn for Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, due in theaters next summer.
Rooker and Miller will be joined by The Walking Dead cast members Lew Temple (Halloween 2007), Vincent Ward, Theodus Crane, Adam Minarovich, and Travis Love.
