Local ‘Top Gun’ Fan Film Now Casting

Manteo, NC based Rayolight Productions, the award winning filmmakers behind Lost In Buffalo City and Boy!, are seeking talent for their latest project, a Top Gun inspired fan film trailer, with a sports tie-in that takes place on the Outer Banks.

“It’s a fun and original concept that I feel is a great way to showcase our area as a gorgeous and viable destination for broader film productions,” says director Raymond Wallace.

The 2-5 minute trailer highlights the story of the young Maverick, real name Pete, as he navigates the challenges of his last year in high school.  From his personal relationships, to the battles he faces on the wrestling team, the trailer teases all of the drama and action that sets the stage for young Pete to achieve his goal of becoming a Navy fighter pilot.

The production is reaching out to the community for help as it readies itself for filming on Veterans Day weekend in the month of November, and are currently seeking paid, non-union, actors and an actress for five key roles.  More specifically the team is looking to fill the lead roles of Pete (young Maverick), his girlfriend Lisa, his unnamed wrestling adversary, his motivational wrestling coach, and the Navy Seal antagonist that challenges young Pete.

“Save for the character of Pete, most of the roles shouldn’t take but about 1-2 hours to film,” said Wallace.  “And with little to no memorization of lines required, it’s a great project for both first time and seasoned actors to take part in.”

Interested actors are encouraged to visit www.rayolightproductions.com for more information, such as character details and requirements.  The casting call will remain open until the roles are filled, and interested talent are encouraged to submit their head shots, resumes, and reels by October 15, 2018.  The producers will contact those selected for on camera auditions, that will be scheduled at a later date.

For more information on how you can be a part of the project, visit www.RayolightProductions.com or follow the production on Facebook at @rayolightproduction for the latest news and behind the scene updates.

Three locally produced films from Rayolight Productions will be screening as part of the 2018 Halloween International Film Festival at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills in the Outer Banks block on Thursday, Oct. 25. (Click here for details.)
