Meaghan Rath Talks ‘Surviving Life’ in New Fox Series [Interview]
Actress Meaghan Rath spent some time Charlotte, North Carolina in 2014 shooting a recurring role on Season 3 of the Cinemax series Banshee, but she won’t back for next season because she is about step into the spotlight as the lead actress in a new sitcom coming to Fox in 2016.
OBX Entertainment caught up with Rath when she was among the special guests at the third Tidewater Comicon convention in Virginia Beach in May, and she gave us the scoop that she will in fact not be returning to her role as Aimee King for the upcoming fourth season of Banshee. She told us that while she still loves the show, she will not miss the extremely hot temperatures she filmed in while on location in North Carolina.
The busy actress, who also appeared in the ABC drama Secrets and Lies (filmed in Wilmington, NC) earlier this year, went on to tell us what we can expect from her new sitcom coming soon to the Fox network.

What can you tell us about your new show?
“The show is called Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life. It’s on Fox. It will start airing in January.
“It’s basically about that period of time right after you graduate from college and right before you get your first job. It’s basically the majority of your 20s, from what I’m hearing from most people.
“The story is being told through our main character, Cooper Barrett, who is making all the mistakes so that you don’t have to, looking back and telling you where he went wrong. Basically we’re following this group of friends on their misadventures.
“It centers around three guys who move into their first apartment post-college, and I play Kelly, who is the girl that lives across the hall.
“It’s a coming of age story. It’s a story about friendship. It’s a love story. I’m excited to see where the show takes itself. Right now the writers are still writing it.
“We shot the pilot. Jack Cutmore-Scott plays Cooper Barrett. He’s relatively new. He comes from a New York theater background, he’s British though.
“We have Justin Bartha, who plays Cooper’s older brother who is sort of living vicariously through this younger group of friends now, because he settled down early, has a wife and a baby on the way, and also has a kid of his own.
“We have Charlie Saxton playing Neal and James Earl playing Barry. It’s a really fun, young cast.
“The show looks amazing, just gorgeous production quality. It’s something that’s really fresh and kind of edgy, I think.
“Jay Lapoco wrote the pilot and created the show. James Griffiths is the director, and I am a huge, huge fan of his. He’s fantastic. So it’s like a great group we have together. Hopefully it does well.”
We’re looking forward to it.
“I can’t wait for you to see it.”
