Dare County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robert L. “Bob” Woodard Sr. will deliver a virtual State of the County address on January 20 27, which will highlight the issues that were faced and the accomplishments that were achieved by Dare County during 2020.

Viewers who tune in to the virtual presentation will learn how the county continued to provide important and high-quality services to Dare County residents and visitors throughout the year despite the challenges posed to the community by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chairman Woodard will also share information about the wide array of events and projects that are currently underway and on the horizon in Dare County as residents and visitors look to the future at the beginning of a new year.

Among the myriad upcoming projects that will be presented are College of The Albemarle’s state-of-the-art academic building currently being constructed in Manteo; the brand-new animal shelter on Roanoke Island, which will open to the public this spring; the design and development of a shallow draft hopper dredge that will be used to keep Dare County waterways open; as well as many more projects that are being planned or currently underway.

Due to restrictions on gatherings caused by COVID-19, the event will be livestreamed on Dare County’s YouTube Channel, www.YouTube.com/DareCounty on Wednesday, Jan. 27 (rescheduled from Jan. 20) starting at 2:00 p.m.

Viewers who have questions for Chairman Woodard will have the opportunity to submit them via email during the presentation for a Q&A session that will end the event.
