Posted By on June 8, 2020

The National Park Service has issued a request for proposals to lease the Avon Fishing Pier in the village of Avon on Hatteras Island.

Cape Hatteras National Seashore announced today (6/8/20) the opportunity for interested parties to submit proposals to lease Avon Fishing Pie, which is located on Seashore beach property adjacent to 41001 on the NC 12 beach road in Avon, NC.

The Pier was constructed and first operated in 1964.

The lease premises consist of a pier house, which is approximately 2,213 square feet in size and the wooden fishing pier, which is approximately 666 feet long. Seashore property in this area is limited to the ocean beach.

The lease premises do not have or include an access road, parking area, or septic system.

Applicants to the Request for Proposals must provide their plans for providing visitor access to the premises, as well as plans to provide any support facilities they determine to be necessary for pier operations.

The National Park Service seeks a lessee for Avon Fishing Pier in order to:

  • Enable continued use of the Lease Premises for pier fishing and associated services; and
  • Provide regular maintenance and upkeep of the Lease Premises, including both the pier and pier house.

The Request for Proposals is open from June 8 through August 7, available at https://nps.gov/caha/getinvolved/leasing.htm.
