Scare Fair Exclusive ‘Lost Colony’ Horror Comic Unveiled
OBX Entertainment presents a Halfway to Halloween celebration of the strange and unusual, the inaugural Outer Banks Spring Scare Fair, coming to Kill Devil Hills this month, featuring two days of spooky treats, creepy curiosities, monster photo ops, and more from a curated collection of local and visiting vendors, and comic book creator Jeremiah Derby has unveiled an amazing exclusive inspired by the true story of The Lost Colony, which he will debut at the event.
Local artist/writer and state wrestling champion Jeremiah Derby has created The Lost Colony horror mini-comic to be available for the time anywhere exclusively at the Scare Fair.
The cover of the comic (pictured below) is a tribute to an iconic issue of Marvel’s The Tomb of Dracula, 1972’s issue #10 of the series, which introduced the fan favorite character Blade, a half-human half-vampire slayer of evil undead bloodsuckers. Wesley Snipes memorably played the character in three live action Blade movies from 1998 through 2004.
You can meet Jeremiah Derby in person and be among the first to own this limited edition comic book, The Lost Colony #1, and have it signed by its creator at the Badger Studios table on the vendor floor at the Spring Scare Fair, happening on Friday and Saturday, April 19th and 20th, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Secret Island Restaurant in Kill Devil Hills.
In addition to the vendor show, the Scare Fair weekend will also include the Halfway-to-Halloween Costume Party on Friday night, April 19th at Secret Island, beginning at 8:00 p.m. and featuring an all-ages costume contest at 9:00 p.m. and live entertainment by DJ Styles starting at 10:00 p.m. for ages 18 and up.
OBX Entertainment will also be filming footage of those in costume to be used in the official Halloween International Film Festival trailer, promoting the local independent film festival online and playing before most major movie releases at the R/C Theatres multiplex in Kill Devil Hills this summer.
After dark on Saturday night, April 20th, OBX Entertainment and Secret Island present a tribute to The Misfits, featuring The Clawbacks and Non Compliance, both performing individual sets and then coming together as “Danazig” to honor the horror punk legends and close out Scare Fair Weekend with an epic finale. This special concert event starts at 10:00 p.m.
Discounted accommodations are being provided by the historic Cavalier by the Sea, another local landmark and one of the oldest motels on the beach located directly across the street from Secret Island, is offering 20% off a block of pool side rooms for guests attending the Scare Fair. Call 252-441-5585 and be sure to mention that you’re attending the Scare Fair to reserve a room.
Admission to the Scare Fair vendor floor and all After Dark events is free to the public.
