The Harlem Ambassadors basketball team hit the court at First Flight High School in Kill Devil Hills yesterday (March 20) to take on an eclectic group of local teachers, leaders, and celebrities known as the OBX Scallywags in an entertaining basketball exhibition for charity.

All proceeds from the event, on Sunday, March 20, 2016, benefit the Dare Education Foundation.

According to their official website, the mission of the Harlem Ambassadors is to deliver a quality basketball show to audiences throughout the United States and internationally. The show is designed to be fun for customers of all ages, with youngsters being awed for the first time and older folks enjoying the tried-and-true gags like a rerun of a favorite comedy movie.

The local roster of OBX Scallywags included: Pigman’s owners Richard Bruce and Top Palmer; Four Corners Basketball Camp director Deon Simmons; Leeor Golasa and Michael Lewis of Super Wings; and teachers Jake Bryson (First Flight Middle), Tim Charity (Manteo High), Alex Cohill (Nags Head Elementary), Brian Emery (Manteo High), Chris Mascio (Dare County Alternative), Randy Ratliff (Cape Hatteras Secondary), Riterio Robinson (Manteo Elementary), Adam Sakers (Kitty Hawk Elementary), Michelle Shafer (Manteo Middle), Sam Smith (First Flight Elementary), Joe Tyson (First Flight High), Kim Whitehurst (Kitty Hawk Elementary), and Woody Willis (Cape Hatteras Secondary).

The Ambassadors easily scored the win, but it was all in good fun, as they provided loads of laughs during the game and in between periods, involving all of the kids in the audience by inviting them out on the court at halftime for a high energy dance party, and OBX Entertainment was there to bring you highlights of all the action.
