UNC CSI Hosting Winter Gardening And Birdwatching Lecture

The UNC Coastal Studies Institute (UNC CSI) is hosting a lecture on sustainable winter gardening and birdwatching as part of its  “Science on the Sound” lecture series.  This series, held monthly, highlights research on coastal topics and issues in northeast North Carolina. 

This month, the program will feature Jeff Lewis, a Horticulturist with the UNC Coastal Studies Institute. In this program Mr. Lewis will share helpful information regarding winter gardening as well as backyard bird watching in a program entitled, ”Feathered Friends and Sleepy Gardens: Tips on Winter Gardening and Bird Watching at Home” at 6pm on Thursday, February 18 at the UNC Coastal Studies Institute located at 850 NC 345 in Wanchese, NC. 

The presentation is free and the public is welcomed and encouraged to attend.

North Carolina native Jeff Lewis has spent the past 22 years gardening for a living on the Outer Banks. He is currently the Horticultural Specialist at the UNC Coastal Studies Institute on Roanoke Island.  Jeff is also an amateur naturalist, birder and accomplished nature photographer, with numerous images on display in various venues across the Outer Banks. This program will be streamed live at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/unc-coastal-studies-institute, and the online viewing audience will be able to ask the presenter questions via an online chat room.
