Bright Star Touring Theatre brings us this endearing story of the ugliest duckling in the nest July 29, 30 and 31 at 10:30 a.m. in the Indoor Theatre at Roanoke Island Festival Park.

Bright Star Touring Theatre is a national professional touring theatre company based in Asheville, NC and serves nearly 1,000 audiences in schools, theaters, libraries, museums and more across the country. Bright Star regularly performs for The National Theatre in Washington D.C. and has gained international support by accepting an invitation from the U.S. Embassy to visit Moscow, Russia with their programs.

The Ugly Duckling is packed with audience participation and lessons about acceptance, friendship and inner beauty.  Their costume designers have created poultry in motion with their brightly colored ensemble of birds.

Get ready for a hilarious, heartfelt production based on Hans Christian Andersen’s classic tale. Outcast for his unusual appearance, young Eggbert gets picked on, but learns how to handle it with the help of some friends he meets along the way.

Eggbert then makes a miraculous transformation into the most beautiful swan in all the land, both inside and out.

Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance at Ticket Sales at Roanoke Island Festival Park or the day of the event. Ages 5 and under are free.

This production is sponsored, in part, by Friends of Elizabeth II.
