Gina Owens’s distinctive style is both colorful and bold. Using both house paint and acrylics, her subjects are painted on old buoys or planked wood sourced from the north end of Roanoke Island.

Her work is widely collected, and most recently, Gina’s work was awarded an honorable mention at the 17th Annual Mollie Fearing Memorial Art Show.

About her work, Gina says, “My particular kind of art is called outsider art–a form of folk art done by self taught artists. My art is a creation of unusual fish bodies and heads. Also my creations consist of island people with unusual faces. I also create colorful flowers.”

Gina Owens’ exhibit of paintings will be on display April 3-28.

An opening reception will be held this Friday, April 3, from 6 to 8pm, featuring hors d’oeuvres, drinks, music, and a chance to meet this talented artist.

Gallery hours in April are 10am-5pm, Tuesday through Friday, and noon – 4pm on Saturday. The gallery is closed Sunday and Monday.
