Holiday Weekend Is Free Admission At Wright Brothers Memorial

Posted By on February 9, 2015

Wright Brothers National Memorial will be joining national park sites across the country in celebrating the Presidents’ Day holiday by waiving admission fees on Saturday through Monday, February 14, 15, and 16, 2015.

Presidents’ Day is a federal holiday that has its origins beginning in 1885. Originally the holiday was intended to celebrate the birthday of our nation’s first president George Washington. This holiday has evolved over time into a celebration of all presidents contributing to our nation’s great history. There’s no better way to celebrate these presidents’ achievements than to visit your nearest National Park site free of charge.

Outer Banks Group staff manage the parks for visitors who seek inspiration and rejuvenation from the natural wonders and rich cultural heritage of the area.  Bring your family and friends to Wright Brothers National Memorial, the site of the first powered flight, and learn more about this great nation’s aviation history.  Enjoy exploring the winter beaches of the nation’s first national seashore, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and visit the site of the first English settlement at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site.

Winter is an excellent time to visit the National Parks on the Outer Banks.  Mild weather and sunshine make it a perfect time to get outside and into your nearest National Park. The crowds are gone yielding the opportunity for unobstructed enjoyment of the area’s natural and cultural heritage.

Entrance fees are not charged at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site or Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
