The third episode of the National Geographic series Wicked Tuna: North vs South, filmed entirely on the Outer Banks, North Carolina, was titled “Bluefin or Bust”, because that’s the scenario that faced Capt. Dave Marciano and the Hard Merchandise, who started the episode at the bottom of the board with no fish and mounting expenses.

Marciano struggled with adapting the Outer Banks style of “green stick” fishing for bluefin throughoug most of the episode, but in the final moments he made a sizable catch, enough to move the Hard Merchandise into fifth place, just ahead of the Doghouse.

Elsewhere, Meredith brothers put on a comedy routine that’s a primetime sitcom waiting to happen, but they also managed to pull in two very big fish to push them ahead of the Fishin’ Frenzy and into the first place over all as of Episode 3.

The Frenzy, with captain Greg Mayer mate Nick Gowitzka, did not give up the top spot easily, pulling in two of their own earlier in the episode. Though it did not have enough fat to be priced as high as they had hoped, it was enough to push the Frenzy to the top of the board.

Meanwhile, the Pin Wheel’s Tyler McLaughlin and Hot Tuna’s TJ Ott have brought their rivalry from Gloucester with them to the Outer Banks, as both captains continue to talk trash about each other behind their backs.

What did you think of the episode? Did you see any of your friends on TV? How do you think the Outer Banks was represented? What are your predictions for next week, or the rest of the season?
