The North Carolina Film Office and Wilmington Regional Film Commission are proud to announce that production will begin August 5 in the greater Wilmington area on a new Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation, Christmas in Conway.

The film, which will premiere later this year on ABC, stars Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds, Red, R.I.P.D.). Parker is a two-time Golden Globe winner, taking home honors in 2006 as best performance by an actress in a television series for her role as Nancy Botwin in Weeds and in 2004 for best performance by an actress in a supporting role in a miniseries for Angels in America.

This will mark Parker’s fourth Hallmark Hall of Fame movie. In the production, Parker will play an ailing woman named Suzy Gainsborough, whose husband attempts to build a Ferris wheel in their backyard for the perfect Christmas present, as he proposed to her many years ago on one.

“Hallmark Hall of Fame has a rich tradition of producing films in this region,” says Wilmington Regional Film Commission Director Johnny Griffin, “We are glad to welcome them back again. We appreciate their commitment and loyalty to this region.”

NC Film Director Aaron Syrett continues, “This announcement adds to our long list of projects produced locally this year, and proves that our competitive film incentive, our talented local crew base, our strong filming infrastructure, and our broad range of locations continues to attract productions across the state.”

Christmas In Conway is the seventh Hallmark Hall of Fame feature to shoot in the state’s Wilmington Region. Additionally, the production is the fifth Hallmark related feature to film in the state since 2011 (Beverly Lewis’ The Shunning (2011), A Smile As Big As The Moon (2011), Beverly Lewis’ The Confession (2012), and Norman Rockwell’s Shuffleton’s Barbershop (2013)).

Though shooting mostly on location, the production will base out of and utilize the editing capabilities of Post 1200’s Wilmington office.

Christmas in Conway is one of 35-plus productions that have, to date, filmed or will begin filming in North Carolina in 2013. All together, these productions anticipate having a total direct in-state spend in excess of $250 million while providing over 22,000 job opportunities, including approximately 3,000 possible positions for the state’s highly-skilled crew base.
