The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) is a satirical comedy that incorporates all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays in just 97 minutes.

Described as “an irreverent, fast-paced romp”, the production is London’s longest-running comedy after 10 years in the West End at the Criterion Theatre.

Join these madcap men in tights as they weave their wicked way through all of Shakespeare’s Comedies, Histories and Tragedies in one wild ride that will leave you breathless and helpless with laughter.

This play is full of energy, the characters run across the stage and keep you guessing how they will pull off the next play. Clever use of some interesting costumes also adds to the fun.  The actors speak directly to the audience during much of the play, and some scenes involve audience participation.

The director and stage crew may also be directly involved in the performance and become characters themselves.

UNC Pembroke will present The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) inside the Film Theatre at Roanoke Island Festival Park on Thursday, July 18, and Friday, July 19.

Showtime is 7pm both nights.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for ages 6-12, and free for ages 5 and under, and can be purchased in advance at the Festival Park Visitors Center or on the night of the event.
