[Special Feature] Spider-Man Returns to Theaters
One of the most beloved icons of American popular culture returns to movie screens everywhere this week when The Amazing Spider-Man swings into theaters as one of the most anticipated movies of the year with a unique Tuesday opening.
The Sony Pictures reboot features Andrew Garfield (The Social Network) taking over the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, as directed by Marc Webb (50 Days of Summer).
The film also stars Emma Stone (Zombieland, The Help), Dennis Leary (Rescue Me), Martin Sheen (Apocalypse Now), Sally Field (Forrest Gump), Amber Stevens (who filmed the thriller Jessabelle in Wilmington, NC earlier this year), and Rhys Ifans (The Five-Year Engagement) as the mutated villain The Lizard.
The Amazing Spider-Man is Sony Pictures’ official relaunch of the Marvel superhero franchise, ignoring the previous 2002-2007 Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire and directed by Sam Rami.
In the new adventure, Peter Parker (Garfield) finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disppeared when he was young, but his path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Conners (Ifans), his father’s former partner.
