Vampires, Zombies, and Saints to Invade Va. Beach!
More than 40 celebrity guests are scheduled to be at the innaugural Blood at the Beach Horror Convention April 20-22 in Virginia Beach, including the vampires of The Lost Boys, the zombies and zombie hunters of The Walking Dead, and the avenging angels of The Boondock Saints, giving fans a unique chance to witness three rare cast reunions.
For the last decade, vampires have ruled popular culture, thanks in large part to the massive success of the Twilight books and films and HBO’s True Blood (not to mention the Underworld franchise and the hit Vampire Diaries) but it was director Joel Schumacher’s 1987 The Lost Boys that effectively pulled the bloodsuckers out of the gothic castles of Transylvania an into modern society for the first time.
As a result of this sylized teen-infused classic that introduced Keifer Sutherland to the world, vampire mythology has never been quite the same.
In celebration of this year’s 25th anniversary of the film, no less than five of Sutherland’s original co-stars will reunite for the first time at Blood on the Beach, including Jamison Newlander, Billy Wirth, Brooke McCarter, Chance Corbitt, and making his first ever convention appearance, Edward Herrmann, who played the head vampire in the film.
And if that’s not enough, Grammy winning songwriter G Tom Mac will perform live at the convention on Saturday night, April 21st.
In addition to working on the soundtrack to HBO’s True Blood, Mac wrote the immortal theme song from The Lost Boys, “Cry Little Sister”. You can watch a video for the track in the player below!
If vampires dominated the last decade, the zombie apocalypse has now taken over, thanks mainly to AMC’s record-breaking television series The Walking Dead.
Four actors from the hit show will be at Blood on the Beach, including 12-year-old North Carolina native Addy Miller, who told OBX Entertainment recently that she and her family love and visit the Outer Banks annually, vacationing on Ocracoke Island each year.

Miller played the very first zombie featured in the opening scene of the first episode of the series. She will be joined by her Walking Dead co-stars Madison Lintz (‘Sophia’), Michael Rooker (‘Meryl Dixon’), and Norman Reedus (‘Daryl Dixon’) at the Virginia Beach convention.
Rooker has starred in dozens of high profile Hollywood movies, including Days of Thunder (filmed in North Carolina), Eight Men Out, JFK, Cliffhanger, Tombstone, The Bone Collector, and The 6th Day, among many others.
Reedus (Blade II, American Gangster) plays one of the most popular regular characters on The Walking Dead, but many of his most loyal fans know him best playing fellow Blood on the Beach guest Sean Patrick Flanery’s (Saw 3D) brother in the 1999 cult classic The Boondock Saints and its 2010 sequel.
Reedus and Flanery will join their Boondock co-star David Della Rocco for one of the most anticipated cast reunions promised at the convention. You can watch a trailer for the original film using the player below!
