32nd Artrageous Festival Returns to Dowdy Park, Nags Head in September
The 32nd Annual Artrageous Kids Art Festival returns to Dowdy Park in Nags Head this September.
Presented by PNC Bank, Artrageous is a free, family-friendly event that includes art activities, live music, dance performances, an artisan market, and food vendors.
“Artrageous is an inclusive event the whole community can enjoy,” said Jim Hansen, PNC regional president for Eastern Carolinas. “PNC is happy to continue supporting this festival, which brings enrichment and fun to local children and families.”
This year’s theme, Be You! You’re An Original, encourages children to celebrate being themselves and creating original artwork.
“Having fun, making art, listening to music, and enjoying time with family and friends is what Artrageous is all about,” said Dare County Arts Council Interim Executive Director Jessica Sands. “Our plan is to offer high-quality art activities that inspire children, while showing them there is no right or wrong way to express themselves through art.”
Organizations and businesses interested in hosting a kids art activity and artisans interested in selling their works at Artrageous can find the applications online at DareArts.org/artrageous. The application deadline is Fri., Aug. 27.
The Artrageous Kids Art Festival is Dare County’s longest-running kids art program.
Artrageous will be following all federal and state guidelines regarding COVID-19, while still providing a quality experience.
The Artrageous Youth Scholarship Fund awards one scholarship to a senior at each high school in Dare County every year. The 2021 Artrageous scholarship recipients are Johan Briones from Cape Hatteras Secondary School, Jillian Pendleton from Manteo High School, and Jonah Wills from First Flight High School.
The 2021 Artrageous Kids Art Festival is happening from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Dowdy Park in Nags Head.
