‘Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks’ Season 8 Trailer and Clip Reveal All Southern Boats
The locally filmed National Geographic Channel (NatGeo) reality competition series Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks is back for its eighth season, premiering with a special 90-minute episode this month, and for the first time since the show began, this year features all southern boats competing against each other, as officially revealed in a new trailer and clip.
In the first official clip below, veteran local captains Greg Mayer of Fishin’ Frenzy and Nick Gowitzka of Little Shell gear up for the new season.
In the clip, Gowitzka says, “We’re going to find out who the real King of the South is.”
On the Season Premiere episode, entitled “Danger Lurks,” this year’s Southern fleet of fisherman face one of their most dangerous seasons ever.

Filmed on the Outer Banks, North Carolina, the breakout TV show spin off of the original Wicked Tuna that follows the exciting work of hardcore tuna fishermen on the Outer Banks, production of the new season began in January, once again shot mostly aboard the boats of the local and visiting captains from Gloucester until the region’s bluefin quota is met.
The Season 8 premiere of Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks will be an extended 90-minute episode airing on Sunday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m. on National Geographic.
