Celebrate July 4th, 2021 on the Outer Banks

Here are the latest updates regarding fireworks on the Outer Banks and what else is happening to celebrate the holiday on Independence Day, Sunday, July 4th, 2021.

KILL DEVIL HILLS

Kill Devil Hills will hold their annual Independence Day fireworks display, to be launched from Avalon Fishing Pier, located on the beach near Milepost 6 at 2111 North Virginia Dare Trail, beginning at dark on Sunday, July 4. The event will also be livestreamed on the town’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. (A rain date has been set for the following day, Monday, July 5.)

NAGS HEAD

Nags Head is once again hosting its annual Independence Day fireworks display, launching from Nags Head Fishing Pier, located on the beach near Milepost 11.5 at 3335 South Virginia Dare Trail, starting at 9:25 p.m. The fireworks display will last approximately 20 minutes. (A rain date has been set for the following day, Monday, July 5.)

MANTEO

Manteo’s annual Fourth of July celebration is happening all afternoon on Sunday, July 4, starting at 3:00 p.m. in the downtown area, with two stages and events including the Wacky Hat Contest, Decorated Bike Contest, Apple Pie Contest, live music by Formula and Silver Bullets, and fireworks after dark.

AVON

The annual Independence Day fireworks display at Avon Fishing Pier, located at 41001 Highway 12 in the Village of Avon on Hatteras Island starts at 9:00 p.m.

OCRACOKE

Ocracoke Island will host a massive two-day Independence Day celebration, with numerous events, starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, with a scavenger hunt and later a fireworks display on Saturday night at 9:15 p.m., launched from the National Park Service parking area at the southern end of the island. The celebration continues on Sunday, July 4, with events starting at 9:00 a.m. and including the Old Time Independence Day Parade at 3:00 p.m., culminating with a community beach bonfire on Sunday evening at the Ocracoke Day Use Area/National Park Service Lifeguard Beach.

COROLLA

Whalehead in Historic Corolla, located at 1100 Club Road, will host its annual Independence Day celebration on the day after the 4th this year, with events including live music and fireworks starting at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 5.
