Dare County Reports 7 COVID-19 Cases on Aug. 24th

The Dare County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has received seven new positive COVID-19 test results today, bringing the total number now to 424 cases, as of Monday (8/24/20) evening.

These most recent cases include one male resident of Dare, two male residents, and one female resident, all three of which are in the 18-24 age group and are isolating outside of the county, as well as two other female residents in the 18-24 age group and one male resident in the 18-25 age group, all three of which are currently recovering in home isolation.

There are currently 27 cases considered active in Dare County, including one hospitalization.

“Non-resident” cases are those who do not have a Dare County address listed on their identification card, including visitors, non-resident property owners, individuals living and working in Dare County for the summer, and those who may have recently moved to the area and have not yet been able to update their identification card.

Local and state health officials continue to strongly encourage everyone to follow the 3 Ws – wear a cloth face covering if you will be with other people, wait at least six feet apart and avoid close contact with other people, and wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
