Dare County Reports 7 COVID-19 Cases on Aug. 20th

The Dare County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has received seven new positive COVID-19 test results today, bringing the total number now to 413 cases, as of Thursday (8/19/20) evening.

These most recent cases include one female resident of dare in the 18-24 age group isolating outside of Dare, two female residents in the 25-49 age group in home isolation, one male resident in the 25-49 age group in home isolation, and one female resident in the 65 or over age group in home isolation, as well as one female non-resident in the 18-24 age group and one female non-resident in the 25-49 age group, both of which are isolating in Dare.

There are currently 18 cases considered active in Dare County, including one hospitalization.

“Non-resident” cases are those who do not have a Dare County address listed on their identification card, including visitors, non-resident property owners, individuals living and working in Dare County for the summer, and those who may have recently moved to the area and have not yet been able to update their identification card.

Local and state health officials continue to strongly encourage everyone to follow the 3 Ws – wear a cloth face covering if you will be with other people, wait at least six feet apart and avoid close contact with other people, and wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
