UPDATE: R/C Theatres KDH Cineplex Delays Reopening Indefinitely
R/C Theatres has announced that all of their movies theaters, including the Kill Devil Hills cineplex, are now tentatively scheduled to reopen on Friday, August 7 “soon,” with no specific date set.
This is the fourth fifth time the anticipated reopening has been rescheduled, as R/C previously announced July 10, and then July 17, July 31, and later August 7 as their reopening date.
There will of course be new safety procedures and regulations in place when the movie theater reopens.
R/C’s official website states that this date is subject to change, depending on the following:
- Governing authorities’ approval to re-open
- The current release schedule
Upon reopening, the following procedures will take effect immediately:
- Reduced number of tickets per auditorium to allow for social distancing
- Advance ticket purchase will be encouraged for maximum touchless process
- Reserved seating will not be available – this will allow for maximum efficiency of social distancing in auditoriums
- Employees will be wearing face masks
- Guests will be encouraged to wear masks
- Barriers will be in place between employees and customers at sales stations
- Enhanced cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting will be in place

Yeah! This makes sense on all levels. Keep up the good work Dare County!!!!
It is a tentative reopening date, as NC would have to allow movie theaters to be open in order for the local theater to open. This is simply the most recent “anticipated” date of reopening the R/C chain of theaters. It will be pushed back again now that ‘Tenet’, the next studio movie release, has been delayed indefinitely.
