Posted By on July 14, 2020

Nationally renowned singer and Outer Banks native Tshombe Selby will perform a live concert this month that will be streamed online and available to watch for free.

The Elizabeth City State University alumnus and New York Metropolitan Opera performer, who is from Manteo, got his big break while working as an usher for the New York Metropolitan Opera Company, when he landed a role in the George Gershwin classic modern opera, Porgy and Bess. He has since gone on to perform around the world, and is one of the most widely respected and renowned opera singers of his generation.

In 2019, he returned home to perform in the first opera ever produced on the Outer Banks, singing the role of Alferdo in Verdi’s La Traviata.

Tshombe Selby will perform a live-streaming concert on the Dare County Arts Council Facebook page on Tuesday, July 21.
