The Dare County Department of Health and Human Services has received three new positive COVID-19 test results, bringing the total number of positive COVID-19 tests in Dare County now to 42, as of Tuesday (6/16/20) afternoon, all of which have been identified as local Dare residents.

The three new cases reported are identified on the county’s COVID-19 dashboard as two males and one female, each residents of Dare. One ff the new cases is age 17 or under, one is in the age range of 25-49, and one is age 65 or over, all of which are currently recovering in home isolation.

Dare County Department of Health and Human Services Director Dr. Sheila Davies said today that there are likely many more individuals in the county who have contracted COVID-19 but have not been tested and we do not know about.

A third local community testing clinic event, to include diagnostic and antibody testing has been announced for Tuesday, June 30 at the Dare County Parks and Recreation facility in Kill Devil Hills.

Local and state health officials continue to strongly encourage everyone to follow the 3 Ws – wear a cloth face covering if you will be with other people, wait at least six feet apart and avoid close contact with other people, and wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
