Dare County Reports 35 Positive COVID-19 Tests

UPDATE: Two additional COVID-19 positive test results have been reported since this article was first published on Saturday. One is a female non-resident, 18-24 years of age, who has been transferred to their home county, and the other is a male Dare County resident, 65+ years of age, recovering in home isolation.

The Dare County Department of Health and Human Services has received three new positive COVID-19 test results, bringing the total number of positive COVID-19 tests in Dare County to 33 35 as of Saturday Sunday (6/14/20) afternoon.

The 33rd case is identified on the county’s COVID-19 dashboard as a male Dare County resident, in the age range of 25-49, currently being treated in the hospital.

The 34th case is a female non-resident, 18-24 years of age, who has been transferred to their home county, and the 35th is a male Dare County resident, 65+ years of age, recovering in home isolation.

Of the 33 35 total positive cases reported, 24 of those are full time Dare County residents, of which 17 have recovered or are asymptomatically cleared, five remain active and are recovering in home isolation, one is active and hospitalized, and one has died.

Eleven of the positive cases reported in Dare County are non-residents, of which seven have recovered or are asymptomatically cleared and four are recovering in isolation in their home county.

A third local drive-thru testing event will be announced later this month.

Local and state health officials continue to strongly encourage everyone to follow the 3 Ws – wear a cloth face covering if you will be with other people, wait at least six feet apart and avoid close contact with other people, and wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer.
