Outer Banks Visitors Bureau Launches Summer of Glove Campaign

Posted By on May 5, 2020

Amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, as non-resident property owners were allowed to re-enter Dare County this week, the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau has officially launched the Summer of Glove campaign in an effort encourage continuing safety measures as the summer season sets in and visitors are eventually allowed back to the area.

The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau sent out an email on Monday, May 4, to local businesses and media unveiling the new Summer of Glove campaign and message, “Be Safe. Be Smart. Have Fun.”

The campaign is intended to encourage the continuation of safe practices, like wearing masks, social distancing, and having good hygiene throughout the summer season and the foreseeable future. As part of the effort, local businesses have been invited to take a new Tourism Pledge committing to the safety of guests and employees. Participating businesses will be shown on the official tourism website at outerbanks.org/pledge, which is expected to launch to the public on Tuesday, May 5th.

The Tourism Pledge allows businesses to share the specific steps they are taking to enhance safety, both at their establishments and with the services being provided. The information is for the benefit of the greater Outer Banks community, residents and visitors alike.

In addition to launching the initiative, the Visitors Bureau also recently released a new welcome video and is finalizing production of new COVID-aware messaging and imagery on the popular outerbanks.org travel planning website as the summer season approaches.
