UPDATE: 2020 Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Parade Canceled
The 31st Annual Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Parade will return to Nags Head this March has been canceled due to concerns over Covid-19 (aka the Coronavirus).
Billed as the largest St. Patrick’s celebration in North Carolina, the parade will return to its traditional route along the NC 12 beach road (South Virginia Dare Trail) in Nags Head on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
The parade procession begins at 1:00 p.m., rain or shine.
This year’s marshals are The Humane Society and special guest Bill “Pigman” Shaver, both of whom are working hard to end animal cruelty, and not just for dogs and cats. Keep our furry friends in mind when planning your entry — and, of course, the color green.
The one-mile parade route runs from Bladen St. (near milepost 11.5) north to Driftwood St. on South Virginia Dare Trail (NC 12).
A panel of judges will score entrants on the use of the parade theme in the following categories: Best Overall; Best Float; Best Unit; and Best Band/Music group, with prizes will be awarded following the parade.
The official after party is happening at Mako’s Beach Grille and Bar in Kill Devil Hills, with free hot dogs and a DJ, in addition to the award presentation.
To participate as a parade entrant, an application must be submitted. For parade applications or to volunteer along the parade route, contact Parade Director Mary Ann Newman at [email protected] or (252) 441-4116.
