Weekend Movie Update – Aug. 23, 2019: ‘Ready’ or ‘Peanut Butter’
A new bride has to fight for her life against her new in-laws in theaters this week, while Shia LaBeouf takes a trip through the Outer Banks.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of August 23, 2019!
The horror film Ready or Not (rated R) opened yesterday (Wednesday, Aug. 14) at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills.

The action sequel Angel Has Fallen (rated R) officially opens on Friday, playing locally at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with early previews tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 and 9:40 p.m.
Also new this week, the inspiring story of a struggling coach who helps an aspiring runner in the race of her life, Overcomer (rated PG13) opens on Friday in Kill Devil Hills, with preview screenings tonight (Thursday) at 4:00, 6:35, and 9:10 p.m.
And finally, the highly acclaimed new drama set on the Outer Banks (but filmed in Savannah, Georgia), The Peanut Butter Falcon (rated PG13) officially opens on Friday at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, and the co-writers/co-directors Tyler Nilson, who grew up in Dare County, and Michael Schwartz will be there for a Q&A following the 6:45 and 9:30 p.m. shows on both Friday and Saturday night.

Looking ahead, there are no new movies being released locally next week, as the theater prepares for the arrival of Pennywise (It Chapter Two) the following week, but a new extended cut of Spider-Man: Far From Home (read our review here) will start playing at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills on Friday, Aug. 30.
