Weekend Movie Update – Aug. 9, 2019: ‘Scary Stories’ Come to Life

Scary Stories come to life in theaters this week, while Dora explores a lost city and a dog narrates his life.

Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of August 9, 2019!

Based on the iconic book series, the horror film Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (rated PG13) officially opens on Friday, playing locally at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with early previews tonight (Thursday) at 7:40, and 10:00 p.m.

The new live action movie adaptation Dora and the Lost City of Gold (rated PG) also officially opens on Friday at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with early preview screenings tonight (Thursday) at 4:00, 6:40, and 9:00 p.m.

Also new this week, a family film narrated by a witty dog (voiced by Kevin Costner), The Art of Racing in the Rain (rated PG) starts Friday in Kill Devil Hills, with early preview screenings tonight (Thursday) at 6:15 and 9:25 p.m.

Looking ahead, the animated sequel The Angry Birds Movie 2 (rated PG) starts with preview screenings on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 4:40, 6:55, and 9:10 p.m., officially opening on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
