Stryper to Play Paparazzi OBX in June
The long-running Christian heavy metal band Stryper is coming to the Outer Banks for the first time this summer, set to perform live in concert at Paparazzi OBX in Kitty Hawk.
Established in southern California in 1983, Stryper is a multi-platinum band that continues to share their positive message and energetic stage presence with a passionate following throughout the world. Since the band’s inception over 30 years ago, the founding members have stayed true to their deepest convictions, turning from “the ways of the world” and following their hearts instead.
Stryper has has a number of hits over the years, including “Calling On You”, “Free”, “Honestly”, and “Always There For You”, with album sales exceeding 10 million worldwide, following one of the most successful Christian rock albums ever, 1986’s To Hell With The Devil. They also hold the unique distinction of being the first band in history to notch two songs in MTV’s Top 10 with “Free” and “Honestly”.
Several movies have paid homage to Stryper’s cultural significance, including Drew Barrymore’s Whip It and Pain & Gain, starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Stryper will take the stage live in concert on Thursday, June 13, at Paparazzi OBX, located at 3848 North Croatan Highway on the U.S. 158 bypass in Kitty Hawk. The doors will open at 7:00 p.m.
This is an all ages show, though anyone under 18 years old must be accompanied by a ticket-holding guardian.
