Celebrate ‘Wizard of Oz’ 80th Anniversary at Costume Party and Screening

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the landmark 1939 movie musical The Wizard of Oz, and the celebration of this epic milestone is reaching all the way from the Emerald City to Kill Devil Hills, where the classic film will be screened and a party is happening in January.

The R/C Theatres multiplex in Kill Devil Hills is hosting multiple 80th anniversary screenings of The Wizard of Oz on Sunday, Jan. 27, starting as early as 2pm.

OBX Entertainment and the Outer Banks Halloween Society are also hosting a pre-movie costume party in the theater lobby starting at 3pm, prior to the 5pm screening.

Fans are invited to come meet their favorite characters, or better yet, come dressed up AS their favorite characters from Oz (or Kansas) for the costume party and photo ops starting at 3pm. There will be a group photo of everyone who is wearing a Dorothy costume at 3:30pm, followed by a Wicked Witch group photo at 3:45pm, and a group photo of everyone in any costume at 4:00pm.

Seating will open at approximately 4:30pm for the 5:00pm screening of the classic 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz. starring Judy Garland and Margaret Hamilton (pictured above).

Additional screenings are scheduled throughout the evening. Tickets for all screenings are on sale at the box office and online at RCTheatres.com. A ticket is not required to attend and participate in the costume part in the lobby.
