Roanoke Island Festival Park Hosting Free July 4th Concert
This Fourth of July, the 208th Army Reserve Band will perform a free concert on the Pavilion stage at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo.
Food vendors, Café Lachine and OBX Sunset Slush, will be on-site serving concessions and the Museum Store will have merchandise and patriotic items available for purchase.
Guests are encouraged to bring a chair, blanket or tarp to sit and enjoy the show. We ask that guests avoid bringing umbrellas, tents or dogs to the event. Regular and handicap parking is available on a first-serve basis. Those traveling by bike are asked to walk their bike into the Pavilion grounds for safety.
The 208th Army Band (pictured above) is a United States Army Reserve Band stationed in Concord, North Carolina, comprised of approximately 40 citizen warrior musicians. The band is currently under the direction of its new Commander, Chief Warrant Officer Two Robert H. Slade. It is a separate unit under the 81st Regional Support Command.
The band’s primary mission is to promote the esprit de corps of our fighting forces and act as musical goodwill ambassadors for the Army throughout the entire Southeastern United States and Puerto Rico. The band performs a variety of music from traditional concert music, jazz, rock, marches, and patriotic selections.
The band has performed concerts and parades at Walt Disney World, the Coca-Cola 600, Carolina Panther’s games, Myrtle Beach, Washington, D.C., and various Veteran’s Day and Independence Day parades and concerts. However, the band’s most important and vital service continues to be providing morale support, performing in ceremonies for soldiers being deployed to combat and returning home and honoring fallen veterans in the form of Taps for military funerals and memorial services.
This Independence Day concert event is happening on Wednesday, July 4, at Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo. Gates open at 6pm and the concert will begin at 8pm.
Fireworks will be provided by the Town of Manteo after dark.
Admission to the concert is free and open to the public.
