Game On in ‘Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks’ Season 5 First Look Trailer!
Last week we brought you the announcement of the Season 5 premiere date for the locally filmed National Geographic Channel (NatGeo) reality competition series Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks, and today we have your first official look at the new season in a 30-second trailer that promises “no rest for the wicked“.
In the Season Premiere episode, entitled “Battle Lines”, it’s opening day of the bluefin tuna season in the Outer Banks, and a reduced quota means there’s more pressure than ever to land a fish. Captain Tyler McLaughlin of the PinWheel has traveled all the way from Gloucester, Massachusetts, to fish in these waters, but soon finds there is no Southern hospitality in tuna fishing. The Southern captains are determined to watch out for each other, putting the Northern boats at a disadvantage.

Filmed on the Outer Banks, North Carolina, the breakout TV show spin off of the original Wicked Tuna that follows the exciting work of hardcore tuna fishermen on the Outer Banks, production of the new season began in January, once again shot mostly aboard the boats of the local and visiting captains from Gloucester until the region’s bluefin quota is met.
Locally based charter boat Fishin’ Frenzy, led by Captain Greg Mayer, has won the competition each of the first three seasons of the show, while Reels of Fortune, led by Captain Charlie Griffin, was the most recent winner in Season 4.
Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks Season 5 premieres on Sunday, July 1 at 9pm on NatGeo.
