‘Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks’ Season 5 Premiere Date Announced
Season 5 of the locally filmed National Geographic Channel (NatGeo) reality competition series Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks has just been announced, in conjunction with a press release today regarding the original Wicked Tuna‘s upcoming 100th episode.
The action continues on Sunday, July 1, when the hit spinoff series Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks returns for a fifth season of danger and drama in the most treacherous waters of North America.
New England captains Dave Marciano, Tyler McLaughlin, and T.J. Ott will follow the bluefin tuna migration south to catch a piece of the action off the coast of North Carolina, but a reduced season catch quota means finding Southern hospitality won’t be easy. Northern and Southern fishermen will fight for every catch until the now-lower quota is reached, and Mother Nature shakes things up every step of the way.
In the Season Premiere episode, entitled “Battle Lines”, it’s opening day of the bluefin tuna season in the Outer Banks, and a reduced quota means there’s more pressure than ever to land a fish. Captain Tyler McLaughlin of the PinWheel has traveled all the way from Gloucester, Massachusetts, to fish in these waters, but soon finds there is no Southern hospitality in tuna fishing. The Southern captains are determined to watch out for each other, putting the Northern boats at a disadvantage.

Filmed on the Outer Banks, North Carolina, the breakout TV show spin off of the original Wicked Tuna that follows the exciting work of hardcore tuna fishermen on the Outer Banks, production of the new season began in January, once again shot mostly aboard the boats of the local and visiting captains from Gloucester until the region’s bluefin quota is met.
Locally based charter boat Fishin’ Frenzy, led by Captain Greg Mayer, has won the competition each of the first three seasons of the show, while Reels of Fortune, led by Captain Charlie Griffin, was the most recent winner in Season 4.
Wicked Tuna: Outer Banks Season 5 premieres on Sunday, July 1 at 9pm on NatGeo.
The 100th episode of the original Wicked Tuna series, entitled “Fight to the Finish”, will premiere on Sunday, June 24 at 9pm.

Dave Marciano,
My husband and I were in OBX for our daughters wedding this weekend. Went over to the marina where your boat was. I’m sorry we didn’t get to meet you but seeing your boat and knowing how hard you and your crew work it really meant a lot to us. Praying you did well and made it home safety
