Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Parade Returns to Nags Head March 2018
The 29th Annual Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Parade will march on along the beach road in Nags Head on Sunday, March 18, 2018.
This year’s parade will honor the late Ernie Bridgers, a Nags Head property owner and part time resident who started and was the “Grand Poobah” of the South Nags Head White Trash Marching Band and Beach Chair Drill Team many years ago. The group of like-minded South Nags Head property owners grew to eventually include around 100 participants and was always among the liveliest and most entertaining entries in the annual St. Patrick’s Parade, winning the award for Best in Parade many times.
Bridgers’ wife, Marie, and many members of the South Nags Head White Trash Band will lead the 2018 parade.
You can watch footage of Bridgers’ group in the 2015 and 2012 parades below.
This year’s official theme for the parade is “Red, White and Blue…with a splash of Green.”
The one-mile parade route runs from Bladen Street around milepost 11.5 north to Driftwood Street on the NC 12 beach road (South Virginia Dare Trail).
Parade applications can be downloaded from kellysrestaurant.com and are available for pick-up at Mako’s Beach Bar and Grille in Kill Devil Hills. You can also contact Parade Director Mary Ann Newman at [email protected] or (252) 441-4116 to have an application sent to you or to volunteer along the parade route.
The 2018 Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Parade begins at 1pm – rain or shine – on Sunday, March 18.
