‘Pirate Party’ Kids Show Coming To Roanoke Island Festival Park
The 2017 Children’s Performance Series at Roanoke Island Festival Park concludes with A Pirate Party, live on stage in Manteo, presented by Rainbow Puppet Productions.
What do you get when you mix a group of pirates, a carefree surfer, a mermaid and a talking Octopus? Why Rainbow Puppet Productions “A Pirate Party,” of course! The show is a happy salute to beach movies of the 1960’s. It doesn’t make a lot of sense but it sure is a lot of fun with the audience joining in on a pirate shout-out contest and a big dance at the finale.
The show features vocal performances from the late movie legend Mickey Rooney and his wife Jan. The couple also starred in the company’s 100th anniversary production of “Toyland!” As a very special surprise treat, Broadway legend Carol Channing crashes the party by providing the voice to a bejeweled Octopus! Along the way, she plugs her own upcoming Rainbow show “The Broadway Adventures of Chessie the Manatee.”
A Pirate Party will be performed live in the Indoor Theatre on August 9, 10, and 11 at 10:30am, with an additional evening show on Thursday, August 10, at 6pm.
Tickets are $5 for ages 3 and up, and admission is free for ages 2 and younger. They may be purchased in advance at the park’s Ticket Sales desk or on the day of the event.
This event is sponsored, in part, by Towne Bank, Friends of Elizabeth II and the William and JoAnn Small Family Fund at the Outer Banks Community Foundation.
