The Apes go to war in theaters this week, while a Wish gets granted, love gets Sick, and the Transformers land at the Pioneer.

The third film in the Planet of the Apes prequel trilogy, War for the Planet of the Apes (rated PG13) opens on Friday (July 14), playing locally at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with special preview screenings happening tonight (Thursday) at 7 and 10pm.

Also new this week, the horror film Wish Upon (rated PG13) opens Friday at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with preview screenings tonight (Thursday) at 8 and 10:20pm.

The new romantic comedy The Big Sick (rated R) also opens Friday at R/C Theatres, with preview screenings tonight (Thursday) at 7:20 and 10:10pm.

The war between the Autobots and Decepticons continues in Transformers: The Last Knight, playing at the historic Pioneer Theatre in Manteo for one week, July 14-20.
