Outer Banks Centre For Dance Presents ‘The Wizard Of Oz’

Posted By on June 8, 2017

The Outer Banks Centre for Dance will present its annual show, taking the audience on a journey somewhere over the rainbow with a live performance of The Wizard of Oz this month in Kill Devil Hills.

During intermission at the event, there will be concessions available, as well as a photo op with “Dorothy” and her friends.

The Outer Banks Centre for Dance first opened its doors in 1990 under the direction of Artistic Director Marjorie E. Knapp, a member of Dance Educators of America. The school’s main emphasis is in classical ballet as a foundation for all dance forms, offering a great variety of dance disciplines.

The local Dare County students of the popular dance school perform a new fully produced stage show for the public each spring, and they are going to Oz this year with this family friendly retelling of the classic story of Dorothy and her dog Toto, a tornado that swipes them up and away, and the friends they meet when they awake in the colorful Land of Oz, where a mysterious wizard holds the key to finding the way back home to Kansas.

The Outer Banks Centre for Dance presents The Wizard of Oz and A Wonderful Evening of Dance live on stage for two performances at 1 and at 7pm on Saturday, June 17, in the theater auditorium at First Flight High School, located at 100 Veterans Drive in Kill Devil Hills.

Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 on the day of the show, available for online purchase here.
