Weekend Movie Update – June 9, 2017: ‘The Mummy’ Awakens
Universal Pictures is re-launching its iconic lineup classic movie monsters in the recently announced Dark Universe of interconnected films, beginning this week with the arrival of the new Mummy.
Here’s your Outer Banks Movie Update for the weekend of June 9, 2017!
Starring Tom Cruise, along with Sofia Boutella as the titular monster and Russell Crowe as Dr. Henry Jekyll/Mr. Hyde, The Mummy kicks off Universal’s Dark Universe, which will next include The Bride of Frankenstein (opening on Valentine’s Day 2019), to be followed by Johnny Depp as The Invisible Man, as well as upcoming new takes on Dracula, Frankenstein, The Wolfman, The Creature From The Black Lagoon, Phantom of the Opera, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
The Mummy (rated PG13) opens on Friday at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with special preview screenings happening tonight (Thursday) at 7:20 and 10pm.

Also opening this week, the critically acclaimed new horror film It Comes At Night (rated R) starts Friday at R/C Theatres, with preview screenings tonight (Thursday) at 8 and 10:15pm.

Based on the true story of a young marine corporal whose unique discipline and bond with her military combat dog saved many lives during their deployment in Iraq, the drama Megan Leavey (rated PG13) opens Friday at R/C Theatres in Kill Devil Hills, with preview screenings tonight (Thursday) at 7:15 and 9:50pm.
